Lovely Detail

27 09 2012

I chopped off my hair last January and donated it to Cancer Society.  It was one of the most freeing experience.  I was so attached to my long hair.  After we closed the 23rd street shop.  I decided to physically let go of this attachment.  I am so happy with my shorter do now.  Less work and I feel a lot lighter.  I came across this image of sweet hair detail via Rodarte A/W 2012 Ready to Wear.  I might have to do something similar to my short hair.  It is lovely.

LIfe under the sea

10 10 2011

As you know I have endless fascination and affection for ocean life.  I am delighted to see that someone else feel the same way.  Take a look at Chanel ready to wear S/S 12.  The sea has come alive indeed.

An ultra-pure and elegant setting with white layers, a cave entrance/exit, glistening bubbles, pearly shells, stones, coral, and sealife.  I adored the use of elements of the sea and its culture were used in such clever ways—but also with the pretty accessorizing for the show.  Pearls were used to adorn the face and the hair, as well as how coral were used in the design of the jewelry, handbags and footwear… and lastly, that shells that were carried like clutches. I’m in love!

The Goddesses

7 09 2011

Sarah Keefe from Planned Parenthood sent us two beautiful pics from the show.  As she puts it so well the IDOM girls are the Goddesses.  We are lucky to have so many beauties on the stage.  We love working with Sarah Schroeder and Iris Dyrhaug.  They were in several of our lookbooks.  It was such a fun reunion to visit with the girls again.  Of course we were thrilled to have our business partner/photographer/, Evangelina Owens to represent us on the stage.  It is truly a family affair.  Evangelina’s sister in law Cory Owens was also very kind to accept our invite to model one of the dresses.  She and her husband Josh are one of the biggest supporters of the label.  If you were at the show you might have seen Josh, Miles (Evangelina’s husband), and Caitlin selling pieces by our IDOM rack at the show.  It is such a labour of love from everyone involved with this little label that could.  Thanks very much for believing in this dream as much as I do.

New Beauties from A/W 11

2 09 2011

We just received a new parcel from Bangkok.  Please swing by and try on the new dresses.  They are wonderful.

This white dress has lovely layers of draping.  It took me quite a while to get all the layers to make sense.  It was really fun designing this piece.

We love this skirt.  It is quite versatile for dressing it up or down.  Ava looks lovely in the ensemble.

I adore this silhouette.  Plus the exaggerated buttons are charming.

Our beautiful IDOM girl and business partner, Evangelina wearing the dress for our fashion show benefit for Planned Parenthood past Wednesday night.  Thanks E for being such a trooper.  Please visit us over this holiday weekend.  Lots of new pieces in the shop now.  Enjoy your Friday everyone.

Thank you

We had a blast last night at the benefit fashion show for Planned Parenthood.  Thank you so much to Nicole, Sarah, the volunteers and Planned Parenthood for organising such an amazing event.  Many thanks to our IDOM crew, Evangelina, Cory, Miles, Josh, Velia, Caitlin, Sarah, Rebecca, and Iris.  And thank you to my dear friend Lance for treating our IDOM little village to a yummy dinner at the Clyde after the show.  You are so good to us.  Thank you to our wonderful friends for attending the show and for supporting the label that could.  It was so delightful to see all of your friendly faces.  We appreciated your endless love and support.  Could not be on this journey without you.  Thank you.

IDOM S/S 12.  Shot by Elizabeth, styled by Katie, Hair and make up by Lori.  Designed by moi and collaborated with Caitlin and Velia.  IDOM girl is Katherine.
