New Shoes!

3 11 2011

Our lovely business partner Evangelina found us beautiful new Melissa shoes via Brazil.  We are in love!

The black boots would be a perfect alternative to the rain boots.  They are chic and ultra modern.  All the shoes are water proof.  How brilliant are they?!

These beauties are 30% off now.  Swing by and try on new shoes.  Yours truly will be working behind the counter today.  Come say hello.

P.S.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart to my dear friends Sally via Pin Me, Maura, Sarah Keefe, and Salwa for donating to Thai Red Cross in helping with the flood victims.  Thank you from behalf of our country, our friends, family, and fellow Thais.  Thank you.

create your own adventure with bunnies and handbags

8 08 2011

Every time we get new treats in the shop I start dreaming of styling new pieces with old pieces to create new looks and dream new dreams. We have some incredibly designed (by M, of course!) brass jewelry in the shop right now. Every piece invites adventure and timeless style. Combine brass bunny rings with a Jenny Yuen handbag, an Idom 2010 summer dress, and Melissa wedges and how could you not daydream yourself all the way to a beach in Rio or a park bench in Paris!

Come say hi and try on one of these amazing rings! The handbag is also available in white as well as we have several other style’s available in the store. Wishing everyone a dreamy week!

xoxo, idom

The Melissa Campana Costela de Adão

19 07 2011

We admired a company such as Melissa for their innovation, collaboration with all sorts of designers and architects and for their sustainable practices.  Here is another style of new beauties that just arrived in the shop.

Designed in partnership with the Campana brothers, the Melissa Costela de Adão shoe line takes it inspiration from the uniquely shaped leaves of the Costela de Adão plant.  The leaves on this slip-on actually hug your feet!  All Melissa shoes are crafted in Brazil of natural and sustainable rubber.  They are extremely comfortable, mold to your feet after just a few wears, are totally waterproof, and can be easily cleaned with soap and water.  I have worn my other pairs at the beach and in the ocean water in Thailand.  They still look fantastic.

Costela de Adão plant.

Campana Brothers are furniture designers from Brazil (Humberto Campana, b. 1953 and Fernando Campana, b. 1961).  In 1983, The two brothers teamed up to develop furniture made by ordinary material – including waste products such as cardboard, rope, fabric and wood scraps, plastic tubes, aluminum wire.  The originality of their artistic work caused controversy and brought massive critical attention, via Wikipedia.

Yes I do have this pair too.  They are dreamy.  Thank you E for bringing us new amazing shoes!  These lovelies are waterproof since they are plastic.  Perfect for this monsoon season like today in Portland.  Thanks V for the pics.  Hope to see you soon.

Who would’ve thought that leopard print goes with everything?

Melissa Plastic Dreams

5 01 2011

We are so excited to get the new Melissa shoes.  They are amazing!

Brazilian-made Melissa shoes are modern and fashionable. Even better, the socially responsible company employs sustainable practices and pays employees above-average wages and benefits. The shoes themselves are made from recycled materials — even last year’s leftover shoes. The factory recycles 99.9 percent of waste and water used in production.

At the factory, big balls of plastic are formed into flats, wedges and low heels, and interestingly enough, the shoes all smell like tutti-frutti.

Whether you purchase a pair of Melissa shoes because you’re green, a vegetarian or just like the chic element, you’ll be keeping plastic out of landfills. And making a fashion statement at the same time.  Plus they are water proofed.  Perfect for the Portland rainy weather.

The newest member to the Melissa family. These heels are extremely comfortable all while being extremely stylish. They mold to your feet after just a few wears, are totally waterproof, and can be easily cleaned with soap and water.

Collaboration between Alexandre Herchcovitch fashion designer and Melissa.  Herchcovitch thinks as Melissa thinks: FASHION is FUN, CLOTHES COMMUNICATE and DESIGN is all about STYLE.

During his career Herchcovitch has presented his fashion collections at Sao Paulo, London, Paris and New York Fashion Weeks and has a retail store in Tokoyo. Selected products of his are sold in the USA, Canada, France, Spain and Australia.
Herchcovitch’s collaboration with melissa began in 2002 and since then he has created two or more styles for melissa every year. The models created by Herchcovitch are now the most cherished fashion icons on the cosmopolitan circuit. Working on a simple concept – to seek fun – the designer has combined plastic with style and started a new chapter in design.

Melissa takes its traditional Ultragirl style to the next level with the Meia. Clear plastic shoe with leopard fabric lining. Same Melflex plastic. Same incredible comfort.

More pics tomorrow.  Stop by and try on these incredible shoes.  Ta, ta.
