Our First Lady, Michelle Obama

22 01 2009

As I mentioned before in my other post that I am so excited for an American fashion industry to have Michelle Obama as our First Lady.  Mrs. Obama is a breath of fresh air.  She is a fashion forward woman.  Also a big supporter of young up and coming American designers.  She could have worn a gown by someone better known.  It is lovely that she has given a young talented designer a chance.

The beautiful couple.  Mrs. Obama wears a silk chiffon dress by Jason Wu.  Fashion whiz kid Jason Wu (he’s only 26!) designed Michelle Obama’s inaugural ball dress. The ivory, floor-length gown has ruffles and a white sash that cuts across one shoulder. Born in Taiwan, Wu attended Parsons School of Design in New York, interned for another Michelle Obama fashion favorite, Narciso Rodriguez.

Jason Wu launched his own label in 2006.  He lives and works in New York City.

Again congratulations America!  You did great!

She looked AMAZING in that dress! It was so fun to see somebody so elegant and beautiful, love the two of them together. I wore your dress to one of the Washington parties we went to, so there was an original Idom piece represented there, too! 🙂
