I love this time of a year where Paris is filled with couture shows.  This Chanel Couture Spring 2011 is so light and airy.  It makes my heart sings.

Hope you enjoy the eye candies as much as I do.  All photos courtesy of

Weekend Inspiration

9 10 2010

Yohji Yamamoto is one of my all time favorite designer.  I remember seeing his pieces in Japan when I was quite young, perhaps when I was about 7 or 8.  It left such a big impact on my life.  In a way he has been my mentor from afar.  I remember saving my allowances for his work, for Comme des Garçons, and for Issey Miyake.  I could only afford one piece per year.  I had to saved and saved.  But they are worth my every blood, sweat and tear.  I thank my parents for really instilled the value of only buying what you love.  All the pieces that I have since I was young are still in great shape.  The amazing quality of construction and the architectural modernness of these designers’ work are timeless.  I will always cherished every pieces from the design masters.

Take a look at S/S 11 collection via Paris.  Yohji Yamamoto’s signature deconstructed Edwardiana in all black with a hint of ragamuffin:

Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons is a genius in her own right.  Brilliant work from her S/S 11 playing with the idea of multiple personalities.

This is one of my most favorite collection from the Paris show.  Loved creative director Dai Fujiwara’s work for Issey Miyake’s SS’11 collection…the textures (using the house’s signature micro pleats and fabric technology), the tailoring, draping, shapes, prints and colours.  Stunning!

Friday Inspiration

8 10 2010

Happy to report that we survived 2 days of moving our clothes and our props from one event to the next.  Now all we need is sometime to rest and sleep.  Thank you to everyone that stopped by the trunk show and the installation show.  It was fun catching up with you guys.  Many thanks to Solestruck and Lindsay for having us over.  We loved collaborating with you.  Now it is time for eye candy via Paris Fashion Week for S/S 11.  I’m a big fan of Gareth Pugh’s work.  Enjoy!

Flowing kimono shapes were cut from a nylon printed with aluminum to give an extraordinary two-way mirror effect. Scales of rubberized neoprene added a snaky futurism to tops and pants. Pugh pulled off a feat of cutting in tunics he called “modular,” the same front and back. And, keen as he was to avoid the sci-fi tag that has been continually attached to his clothes, he still showed sinuous silvery pieces that clung to the body like thirty-first-century armor.  It is inspiring to see a risk taker designer at work.  All photos courtesy of

23rd Ave Celebration

15 07 2010

We are so excited that the 23rd Ave road construction finished early.  It was challenging, but worth the difficulty.  The street is now without potholes and the sidewalks are so much better.  Our street had a celebration last Saturday with fashion shows, street fair, pet adoption, roller derby and much more.  Here are some images from the show.

Our IDOM girls, Amanda to the left, Ruth, Iris, and Cory.

Cool shoes

Wonderful Iris is doing her own hair and makeup.

Everyone were up early the next day from our Friday night show Up In the Air.  We have an amazing team.  Josh to the left, Evangelina and Cory.

Josh is Evangelina’s brother and Cory is his wife.  He is an engineer and she is a scientist.  Cory is such a trooper.  She was a perfect model for our little label.  Smart and beautiful!

Our beautiful girls are to the left waiting for the show.

Our Iris was so good.  She volunteered to walk with the dog for an adoption program plus carried our big IDOM bag.  She did great!

Iris models an Imagined Wing dress.

Brilliant Ruth wears Acts of Light Dress from current season S/S 10.

Cory did a perfect job.  Her first show ever.  She wears Shadow dress also from S/S 10.

Amanda was so fantastic with the dress from Up in the Air show.  I decided to have her modeled the new Desert dress from A/W 10.  The rest of the dresses are now in the shop.

Thanks very much to our IDOM girls!  Many thanks to Evangelina and Caitlin for being such good partners.  Thanks to our in-house photographers, Josh and Miles.  All photos by Miles Johnson.  It takes a village to make this little label works.  Thanks very much again everyone!
