Pumpkin Patch

27 10 2011

Earlier this week I went to the Sauvie Island Farms to pick up some pumpkins. The farm is a third generation family owned business. I had such a great time!  I learned that they have Christmas tree farm there as well.  You could cut down your own tree.  The festivity starts the day after Thanksgiving.  I can’t wait to go back!  I want to thank Kel for going to the farm with me. Here are a few pictures.

My whole outfit came from Idom! The dress and scarf are Idom pieces with Alternative Apparel legging and hoodie. Have a great day and stop by the shop and say hello!

We are hard at work on finishing up props for Content.  Here is more information on the show.

Please join us on Saturday, October 1 for the return of Content, the live fashion installation, featuring IDOM!
This year 28 local Portland artists will each transform a guest room at Ace Hotel into a dynamic and inspired display. In addition to these exciting installations, the evening will feature a beer garden on Stark Street with cocktails and snacks provided by Clyde Common and Olympic Provisions, a pop-up shop for purchasing designs from Content artists as well as after parties and late night shopping hours at many Portland boutiques!
Beer garden fun begins @ 4 p.m., Guest room open house begins @ 6p.m.

Photos from S/S 12.  IDOM girl is Katherine.

Tickets are $15 in advance and available via www.ticketswest.com.
You could also check out more about Content here.

We hope to see you tomorrow Saturday, October 1 at Ace Hotel!

Pretty in Pink

30 08 2011

You know that time of the day in the summer right before the sun goes down when the light is warm and the grass is green green green? I couldn’t help but put together the rich color of the pink woven idom tunic and the landscape on the farm with an impromptu 10 minute photo-shoot before it was just too dark. Plus, I think the black and white saddle shoes are a perfect match!

We have lots of new sale items at the shop right now so swing by and have a look. I think that we may even have one more pink tunic left. Thanks to Mahal for always being willing to help me create when I get crazy ideas, and to her horse, Street Legal Tender, who was more concerned about eating than getting his photo taken but was still pretty awesome.

Enjoy your Tuesday everyone! And don’t forget to come see us on Wednesday night at the Fez Ballroom where we will be showing our upcoming collection!

xoxo, idom

Thank you LA Times!

21 08 2011

I woke up to a delightful surprise.  My dear friend Sarah, aka our PR Goddess sent me the best news that our little shop is in LA Times shopping section for Portland.  Here is what Booth Moore via LA Times has to say about our IDOM,

“Locally-designed line of modern-looking clothing — one-shoulder tops, asymmetrical skirts and the like — plus accessories by Melissa, Tatty Devine and others. It’s the cutest shop along 23rd street in Nob Hill.”  Read more here.

Thanks very much LA Times!  In the mean time if you are in Portland.  Please swing by and say hello soon.  Lots of beautiful dresses and jewels in the shop now.

Our IDOM girl Katherine and lovely summer yellow dress.  I can’t get of enough yellow lately.  Pairing with beaded necklace designed by yours truly.

This dress was designed as a homage to my design heroes Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons.  I saved many months of my allowance as a young kid to buy their pieces in Tokyo.  I knew right then that someday I wanted to follow their foot steps.  It is my way of honouring my design heroes.

Pairing the homage dress with Sula necklace made and designed by Susan Lutjen of Portland.

An IDOM ring inspired by sea plant.

An IDOM beaded bracelet.  Perfect jewel to add to any ensemble.

Please visit our lovely Velia today.  Wishing you a brilliant Sunday.

Weekend Inspiration

26 06 2010

I love living in Portland during the summer.  It is beautiful and the temperature never gets too hot or humid.  I make a point to not travel elsewhere during the summer months.  After all we endured the long gray rainy winter and spring.  I have got to take advantage of the amazing summer climate here.  One of the things I enjoy doing is to visit farmer’s market weekly.  You can find delicious fresh fruit, veggies, cheese, baked goods and flowers.  It reminds me of how my grannie would go to the market daily and find yummy food in the outdoor open air market.  She would also sometime sale her mangoes, coconuts, papayas and herb from her beloved garden.  The farmer’s markets in Portland are incredible.  If you are here you should go check them out.  There are many markets in the city.  I usually go to the ones on Wednesday and Saturday.

The colours at the market are gorgeous.  Hooray to summer!  You can check out Portland Farmer’s market here.  Wishing you a fun fabulous weekend.
